The Ignored War

THE IGNORED WAR- Vid Yogeswaran

There is a war going on, since the late 1980's that has been ignored by so many, and not helped at all. By not interfering we are making matters worse. The ignored war, is the war in Sri Lanka. Sri Lanka is a country in Southeast Asia, a tiny island that used to be filled with tourists. An island destroyed not only by the tsunami but by years of segregation and war. But this war is not by color, or class, not even religion. It is by the language they speak. Tamil and Sinhalese.

In Sri Lanka, well before the 1980’s when you guys were having funk and Michael Jackson, they were pretty good. Britain was controlling them, then they gained independence, before the 1980’s. A lot before the 1980’s. That was the first mistake, by having a stronger force, we would have to fight for power, but they would be treated the same. Since there was more Singhalese than Tamils, they took control. At first it wasn’t war, but it was unfair.

It was segregation, They would have separate schools, with worse teachers, less subjects, and it would be a lot harder for them to get into the colleges , like for every 100 Singhalese child accepted into college, one or two tamils would be accepted. Not only that, but by passing day their[ the tamil ] land was taken from them and basically you get the point. Then there was finally a rebellion called the Tamil Tigers, here their considered terrorists. The Tamil Tigers are like the Abolition movement, their just people. But after nonviolent movements failed, they resorted to violence. But this was years after nonviolent methods failed, many years...

But since the Singhalese responded with war, the tigers responded back. And its been going on since. But now its worse since Tamils are betraying tamils. Its in ruins, now can you please do the country a favor, and send England back to Take Control for another 20 years or so. It would do so much good. And you can be the bosses, we need integration in that country, we need a real government, we need other people. Especially after the tsunami it was in ruins, the government responded by only trying to fix up their area's, or the North.

Also in the media, The government usually only showed places that were attacked by the tamils, not the places they attacked, which is in much more quantaties. Like, during the tsunami the things sent to the government were only used for the Singhalese. The worst part is, they literally come , find, then shoot you just because your tamil[ i know a few people]. So the government started this insane behavior, and it was followed by the rebels.
Please help them, lets put an end to this ongoing ignored war. Israel, Iraq, Sri Lanka.. same problem. The only difference is the United States being allies with Israel choose to super help them, and not help Sri Lanka at all, the only people who tried to help was India. But their attempts were stopped because of the significant amount of tamil population which caused the Sri Lankan government to become unfriendly with the Indian government . Which wasnt good, so attempts were stopped. This shows how by not interfering, we make matters worse.

Please give me your feedback on this situation and opinions on my article. Thanks guys : ) See. this is why its important to have obligation, and as my last post says, by not interfering we make matters worse! So it is just to try and help!
